Registration Checklist

Welcome from UMHB Administration!

The below checklist is intended to assist you with ensuring that you complete all important entry tasks.  Contact information for each office is also provided should you have any questions.

Residence Life 254-295-4590 residencelife@umhb.edu

Campus housing opens at 9:00AM on Wednesday, January 4th for most students.  Participants of certain athletic teams and other student groups, however, may have been instructed to move-in at a different date/time.  Those students should comply with the directions given to them by their coach/sponsor/director.

A new Texas law requires all students living in campus housing to submit proof of having received the meningococcal vaccination at least 10 days prior to occupancy.  No student will be allowed to move into his/her assigned space without this proof on file.  Students without proof of vaccination will be required to find other living accommodations. The Residence Life Office will not be able to provide alternative housing to students without proof of vaccination.

Proof of receipt of meningococcal vaccination may be faxed to 254-295-4196 or 254-295-5689 or emailed as a scanned attachment to residencelife@umhb.edu or healthservices@umhb.edu.

Health Services 254-295-4623  healthservices@umhb.edu

MEDICAL INSURANCE

UMHB strongly suggests that each student maintain medical insurance.  UMHB is not responsible for any medical expenses you may incur while enrolled as a UMHB student.  If you do not currently have medical insurance, we will be happy to provide you with a list of resources.

Some medical insurance policies require you to use an approved network of doctors, hospitals, and clinics.  Please contact your insurance carrier for details and if applicable, obtain a list of approved healthcare providers in the Belton/Temple area and determine what steps, if any, you should take to change your point of service ( POS) to our area.  Our zip code is 76513.  Be sure to bring a copy of your insurance card with you when you come to UMHB.

IMMUNIZATIONS

UMHB strongly encourages you to keep all of your immunizations current.  The Texas Department of Health publishes a list of suggested immunizations for your age group. Check 12th grade requirements for semester (year prior to your enrollment).  http://www.dshs.state.tx.us

Bacterial Meningitis Immunization is REQUIRED by State Law

Effective January 2, 2012, the State of Texas requires all first-time students and/or transfer/graduate students who are 29 years or younger to receive a vaccination for Bacterial Meningitis.  The vaccine must be obtained within five years preceding enrollment or a booster is required.

Written evidence of vaccination must be submitted to UMHB (a student must receive vaccination, or booster, at least 10 days prior to the first of class or moving into campus housing, whichever is first).

Your local health department offers this immunization at a reduced rate if you are uninsured or underinsured and a freshman living in a dorm.  Otherwise, you are not eligible for the reduced rate meningitis vaccine at the health department.  We encourage you to contact them or your local healthcare provider if you need this immunization.  For more information, please visit the UMHB Health Center’s web site at http://cths.umhb.edu/health.
